Faith is what
pleases God. (Hebrews 11:6). And without faith it is impossible to please
God.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen. (Hebrews 11:6).
We ask God constantly, “Why is this happening to me?” One answer is to examine our faith
in him. Some people
experience divorce, which is a time to rely on God. He is a God of all
comfort. (2
Corinthians 1:3-5) Praise be to God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father
of compassion and the God of all comfort. Some people have experienced being sexually
abused,
put the fear of people in them, when they’re only commanded
to fear God. (2 Timothy 1:7)
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit
of power, of love and of self-discipline.
We experience trials and tribulations every day to examine
our faith. Faith without works is
dead. (James
2:14-26) What good is it, my brothers
and sisters, if someone claims to have
faith but has no deeds?
Can such faith save them? Suppose
a brother or a sister is without
clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well
fed, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is
it? In the same way, faith by itself,
if not accompanied by action is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, I have
deeds. Show
me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by
what I do.
You believe that
there is one God. Good. Even the demons believe that-and
shudder. You
foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds
is useless. Was not our ancestor
Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered
his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that his faith and his actions were working
together, and his faith was made complete
by what he did. And
the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was
credited
to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s
friend. You see that a person is justified
by what
he does and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even Rahab the
prostitute considered
righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the
spies a sent them off in a different
direction?
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without
works is dead. So we must experience
tragedies
to examine if we have faith and how strong it is. We’re tested every day to re-establish our
faith. We
are being built into soldiers. Soldiers of who is our determinations by
actions we perform. So just
remember we experience what we do to examine our faith in
God.
