Teach Me How To Love

Being taught how to do anything takes practice, knowledge, awareness, compassion, loyalty, and caring

about other people's feelings.  I can only be taught how to love by God, because God is love.  I need to

exude a teachable spirit within my heart.  All I have to do is thoroughly read the Bible and examine all the

times God forgave people of their sins.  Every time God showed patience when I was slow in catching

onto what he was saying, taught me how to love.  His patience is the ultimate expression of love, because

we all fall short of God's glory.  Every time I lie to people, teach me how to love.  Every time I have lustful

thoughts running through my mind, teach me how to love.  When I see people on the street begging for food,

or money, teach me how to love.  When I see some people prostituting themselves on the street, showing

ignorance of the precious jewel they are to you, teach me how to love.  Teach me how to love, and I will

know how to love.

             Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right.  Whatever is pure.  Whatever is

lovely.  Whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.

          Galatians 5:22-25

But the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and

self-control.  Against such things, there is no law.  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful

nature with its passions and desires.

Dear Lord, with my emotions of jealousy, hatred, envy, actions of revenge, neglect , killing, homicide,

and other emotions as such, teach me how to love.  With your forgiveness,  compassion, hope you give

me, dreams you've made come true are examples of how to love you've extended to me.  From these

realities existing daily in my life, you teach me how to love.
